(2026)

This work is a community driven pavilion built entirely from 800 found objects scavenged from the streets of the Wandsworth borough of London.
Constructed alone by Barr, the project is informed by her working class perspective on value and labour, drawing directly from her fathers work as a refuse collector.
The installation is shaped by interactions with refuse collectors, charity shop owners, housing estate residents, and neighbours, exploring the shifting definitions of ownership, displacement, and identity. By transforming these discarded materials into a democratic sanctuary, Barr encourages the pavilion to reject ecological despair and instead foster collective discourse and joy as a radical act of resistance.

The objects were collected by Barr over the course of six months during her time at the Royal College of Art Sculpture MA.

Final presentation of this work will be shown during the final degree show RCA2026 in the Hangar Gallery RCA Battersea Campus
as part of a curated exhibition ‘The Art of Urgency’ 18-21 June
